A Safe Haven

He who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall

abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1

It was such a blessing to have my grandmother, who we affectionally called Granny live right beside us growing up. There were so many important lessons about life, love, and family that I learned at Granny’s house. When her health began to decline, we were concerned for her to be alone during the night. One of my brothers and I would take turns going down to stay with her. Although she lived next door, it was a long scary walk (I usually ran) in the dark to her house. But no matter what when I reached the front door, I always knew I was safe. Even now, one of my favorite possessions is the doorknob and skeleton key to Granny’s front door.

One of the most valuable lessons my Granny taught me was that God hears us when we pray and that He enjoys our conversations with Him. He is the one you can turn to when life feels overwhelming and the storms are raging. He is our safe haven. Don’t wait till you run out of options on where to turn. He is truly the only option we have. When we run to Him, He gives peace in the midst of the chaos that is unexplainable.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;

the righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10
